Meet the SBHRA Emerging Professionals

Emerging Professionals (EP) are making big waves in the workplace: 

  • 80 million Americans born between the 1980s and early 2000s are gaining influence in the
  • In the next 6 years Millennials will comprise 46% of the workforce
  • This group is the most demographically diverse and most educated generation in American history       
SBHRA is committed to meeting the needs of all members and is proud to support the Emerging Professionals core leadership area (CLA), led by members Priscilla Figueroa, Andrea Nelson, and Elizabeth Meza.


In 2016, the EP team initiated educational and networking programs designed for the Emerging Professional audience. Examples include:
  • Mentoring Programs
  • Workshops specifically structured to meet the needs of young professionals:
    • Benefit Workshops 
    • Onboarding documents education 
    • Networking Events  
    • Excel and HRIS Training Courses
  • Study groups for HR certification 
  • Collaboration between the association and other education resources in the community

The SBHRA Emerging Professionals core leadership area (CLA) exists to engage, educate, and encourage young professionals as they emerge into vital roles in Human Resources.  Emerging Professionals target entry and mid-level HR practitioners who seek additional training, career guidance and advancement, educational resources, and networking opportunities.
