SBHRA's Leadership Summit webinar series will conclude on Thursday, October 29th at 11 AM with roundtable discussion Effective Leadership and Business Operations Beyond. During the Leadership Summit series, we provided virtual presentations by accomplished speakers, authors, coaches, and management consultants through live webinars and Q&A segments.

 

To bring these topics back to the front-lines of our community, SBHRA has scheduled a roundtable discussion with Santa Barbara local leaders from various industries. You're invited to join and submit a question ahead of time to the panel. You can submit your questions to the panel here.

MEET THE PANELISTS

Chad Hine, MBA, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Hine is a highly analytical financial executive with in-depth experience in the healthcare industry. His exceptional evaluation and planning skills make him a respected and proven leader. Before joining Sansum Clinic, Mr. Hine was CFO at Quincy Medical Group in Illinois where he oversaw all aspects of financial performance and operations for the organization and led a substantial financial turnaround that improved profitability by more than 100 percent. Prior to that he was principal and co-owner of investment bank and consultancy CEO Strategic Solutions, LLC. Mr. Hine began his career with Bank of America where he was Assistant Vice President in charge of underwriting and approving credit facilities for middle market businesses. He earned a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Purdue University and an M.B.A. with a focus in finance and entrepreneurship from USC, where he graduated with honors.

Marylou Pritchard, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Director of Human Resources
Marylou Pritchard is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-SCP) and is currently the Director of Human Resources at MNS Engineers, Inc. She has previously served on the Santa Barbara Human Resources Association (SBHRA) Board of Directors and is currently serving on the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) California Business Committee
.
She has worked in the public sector for Law Enforcement (Communications) and Public Works agencies, and in the entrepreneurial arena as an owner of a recruitment and organizational development consulting company. In the private sector, she provides business development support and HR services and leadership. Over the last eight years at MNS, she has grown from an "HR Department of One" to leading a full-service business support center with four additional specialists on the HR team to meet the company's rapidly evolving strategic goals.

Through the California Highway Patrol's Motor Safety Program (CMSP), she is a certified instructor and an advocate for women's participation and empowerment in motorsports.

Kathy J. Odell, Chief Executive Officer

Kathy Odell is CEO of Women’s Economic Ventures, a 501(c)3 dedicated to the economic empowerment of women. As a serial entrepreneur, she is personally committed to advancing women’s entrepreneurship as an angel investor and mentor to female entrepreneurs. Kathy began her entrepreneurial career in 1985 as co-founder Medical Concepts, which over a five-year period became the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of video systems for minimally invasive surgery, resulting in its acquisition by Karl Storz Endoscopy in 1990. Following the acquisition, Kathy served the Storz organization as Managing Director of Karl Storz Imaging and President of Karl Storz Veterinary Endoscopy America until 2000 when she elected to return to the entrepreneurial realm.
From 2002 to 2008, Kathy served as CEO of Inogen, Inc., a manufacturer of advanced therapy devices for treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). During Kathy’s tenure, Inogen received over $53M in venture capital. Today Inogen is a public company with a $800M market cap (NASDAQ:INGN).

From 1998 to 2012 Kathy was a director of Pacific Capital Bancorp, N.A. (NASDAQ: PCBC), a regional community bank with $6.5B in assets, where she served as Chair of the Compensation Committee and as a member of the Enterprise Risk and Governance committees.
Kathy presently serves as a board member of the UCSB Economic Forecast Project and the Santa Barbara Region Chamber of Commerce, and as a Managing Director of Annovium Products LLC. She is a former board member of Pointe Conception Medical (sold to Arthrex, Inc.) and RVM Scientific (sold to Agilent Technologies). Kathy is a graduate of Stanford University. She resides in Santa Barbara, with her husband, Charles (Chuck) Bischof. They are the parents of four sons.

Steve Kulchin, Vice President, Human Resources
Steve Kulchin is currently with Jacob Stern & Sons as Vice-President, Human Resources since January 2016. Steve provides HR strategic leadership and tactical support at the Corporate and Divisional levels (Jacob Stern & Sons, Houston and Acme-Hardesty, Blue Bell).
Prior to joining the team, Steve was VP HR for Mission Linen Supply, where he helped to set and attain growth and profitability goals for the privately-held industry leader for nearly two decades. Prior to MLS, Steve held influential HR leadership positions at Neutrogena, Johnson & Johnson, and Hughes Aircraft Company. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources Management from San Diego State University.
