Join attorney Helen Cicino Fabian, Esq, as she provides a review and analysis of how recent developments surrounding sexual harassment have changed in light of the #MeToo movement and how this impacts workplaces, the safeguards that company’s should put in place to ensure legal compliance and maintain a positive and professional environment.


We will discuss the requirements and best practices involved in addressing complaints of sexual harassment including conducting sexual harassment investigations.

In planning the event, we must guarantee attendance with the venue provider by a specific date. We become locked in for the expected number of attendees, which means we incur an attendance fee regarding your registration. 

  • To receive a refund, you must cancel by the Cancellation Deadline 2/14/19 - the THURSDAY before the program date. 
  • Neither credit nor refund will be extended after the deadline. Additionally, neither credit nor refund will be extended to no-shows. 
  • You will still be invoiced and expected to pay if you register for the event and either cancel on the day-of or do not show.
  • We welcome substitutions at the correct rate for the substituting person (as either a member or nonmember).
  • We welcome walk-ins as space permits for those who cannot plan ahead.

About the Speaker

Helen Cicino Fabian has been an attorney helping businesses with all types of employment issues imaginable for over 25 years.  Most recently Ms. Fabian served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Human Resources, for MemorialCare Health System, running the legal and HR departments that included 6 hospitals and over 12,000 employees with both a unionized and non-union workforce.  Previously, she served as in-house counsel for a publicly held, $2 billion, 10,000 employee manufacturer, Beckman Coulter, and as outside employment counsel at two litigation firms, including Littler Mendelson, the worlds’ largest employment law firm.  

Relocating here to Santa Barbara in 2016, Helen is currently the founder of her own human resource and legal consulting firm where she counsels and provides training to businesses of all sizes on human resource best practices and complying  with the complicated and ever-changing world of California employment law.  Helen frequently conducts independent workplace investigations, testifies as an expert on human resources best practices, and serves as a mediator for employment law disputes. She is a trusted source for creating or revising employee handbooks and workplace policies. Helen also has extensive experience helping companies with workplace violence situations, conducting layoffs, and reorganizations.  Helen specializes in delivering harassment prevention training, and human resource best practices training in an informative, effective and entertaining manner with the goal of preventing workplace issues before they start.

Ms. Fabian, a frequent speaker and author, she has lectured extensively and has provided employment law training to all levels of management and human resource professionals, working with the Institute for Applied Management and Law, the National Business Institute, and the California Employers’ Group.  She served as managing editor of a legal book series published by Entrepreneur Press.  She obtained her law degree from Loyola Law School and holds a B.A.s in Journalism and in Communications Arts and Sciences from University of Southern California. 

Ms. Fabian served as Chair of the Labor and Employment section of the Orange County Bar Association in 2003 - 2004 and on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Bar Association in 2006 -2007.  In her role as General Counsel, she has served as an advisor to the Board of Directors of MemorialCare, as well as the Compensation and Governance Committees.
