You survived the start of the millennium with workforce management challenges associated with Y2K and then settled into a pattern of prosperity for the next seven years. No one ever thought it would end until the economy received a massive jolt, sending shock waves through the business community andchanging the way the world does business forever. Survival was key, and organizationally many companies were faced with the dilemma of downsizing or struggling to remain status quo until the economy recovered. For many businesses, cost reduction became a harsh reality.

Reducing workforce costs can be devastating to the success of your organization and succeeding in the future will require a change in strategy. Human Resource Professionals will be tasked with effectively rebuilding workforce competence in order to stay organizationally competitive in the market place. Human Resources will need viable strategies for managing the costs of rewards.
